RAIVEL FAMILY, TEAM DOMINICAN
“We are so psyched to be a Dominican host family again! And guess what? We are taking a trip to the Dominican this year in June to see our "boys!" We miss them so much and we just have to go see them. We can, as a family, say that our experience last year with the Cal Ripken World Series was by far the best thing we have ever shared as a family. And now we can say that we have "family" in the Dominican Republic! I just wanted you to know how much it meant to us, and how meeting those amazing boys changed our lives. Even my husband, who was skeptical before it all started, tells everyone that it was the best time of his life."

“The spirit of Ripken Baseball will endure for the rest of my life! A lasting part of the experience was the host families. The Australian Host Families made Ripken not just a World Series Tournament but an experience that bonds players across our huge continent. Our team met for the first time a week before the tournament and was asked to travel across the other side of the world to compete out of season. Our Aussie Host Families gave them the love and routine that made the time in Aberdeen go just too quickly... The boys were sick of me, being their ‘Mom” and the feeling was mutual! It was so pleasing to hear about their player camaraderie continue during the recent National Championships in Canberra, when they were competing against one another for their respective States. You guys have such a positive and lasting impact on these young men. Thank you for opening your homes and hearts to us Aussies!”

“As for my family’s experience it was totally awesome. I loved our boys & they were part of the family from day 1. We have messaged the boys and their families every day since they went home. Also, this time of year makes our boys from past years remember and they message us around this time as well. They send us picture of how they have grown. It is awesome beyond words. Chris & I love being host families. Chris said it so well at the goodbye gathering on Monday. He said my wife wanted to do this hosting thing & I said ok, but for 1 year. After that one year, he became Japan’s biggest fan and looks forward to this every year. He feels like he has gained 12 sons.”
