The Babe Ruth League and Ripken Amateur Baseball are thrilled to announce the schedule for the 2009 Cal Ripken World Series in Aberdeen, Maryland: August 14-22, 2009. The CRWS will feature a full week of exciting international youth baseball among 16 teams from around the world!
The Cal Ripken World Series Opening Ceremonies begin at 7 PM with gates opening at 6 PM on August 14th. The event will feature a spectacular fireworks show, a military flyover, the State Farm Homerun Derby, baseball skills competition, and plenty of interactive games and activities for families and fans of all ages.
While admission is free, the Championship Game on Saturday, August 22nd does require a ticket. Tickets to this game are now available on a first-come, first-serve basis as a limited number of commemorative tickets will be issued for that game. They can be reserved by visiting http://worldseries.ripkenbaseball.com or by calling 410-297-9292. Tickets will not be required for other Cal Ripken World Series games, only the Championship.
The limit per person for Championship Game tickets is six (6). Fans that order tickets in advance will automatically be registered to win various prizes, including Cal Ripken autographed photos, Ripken Baseball apparel, Under Armour and Gatorade prize packs, Orioles tickets, various gift cards and much more. A different person will win each individual prize. Fans must be present at the Championship game on August 22nd to claim their prize.
The tournament will feature 16 teams from around the country and throughout the world. There will be six international teams from Japan, Australia, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, the Republic of Korea and Canada. The remaining tournament field will be filled by 10 U.S. teams comprised of the Harford County and Maryland State Champions and teams from the following Babe Ruth League regions throughout the nation: Pacific Northwest, Pacific Southwest, Southwest, Midwest Plains, Ohio Valley, New England, Mid-Atlantic and Southeast. The winner of each region is determined by tournaments throughout the summer.
