Cal Ripken, Jr. drove the Pace Car to start the 49th Daytona 500 on Sunday. The honor was bestowed upon him by long time corporate partner Chevrolet and the Daytona Speedway. Cal arrived in Daytona on Saturday and practiced his Pace Car duties with former NASCAR driver Brett Bodine. On Sunday he started the race with three pace laps before turning the car over to Brett for the remainder of the race.
