Ripken Baseball Unveils New Summer Camp Lineup for 2007

Programming to Include Specialty and High Performance Camps

BALTIMORE – Two brand new baseball instructional programs highlight Ripken Baseball’s 2007 summer camp lineup at the Ripken Baseball Academy in Aberdeen, MD, it was announced today by Ripken Amateur Baseball General Manager Rob Weinhold. Ripken Baseball Speciality and High Performance camps will be part of seven weeks of summer programming to include the Ripken Way Camp, two weeks of the annual Ripken Experience Camp featuring Cal and Bill Ripken, a softball day camp and the popular Ripken Baseball Rookie Camp for 7 and 8 year olds.

“Our customer feedback clearly indicated a demand for new programming options in 2007,” Weinhold said. “The original Ripken Baseball Camp has earned a reputation as the best camp of its kind during the past eight years, but as our campers have grown older and started to progress up the youth baseball ladder, a need has arisen for more specialized and advanced camps. We are hoping that our program additions in 2007 will allow players to progress through all stages of their baseball development by attending Ripken camps year after year.”

Ripken Baseball’s 2007 summer camp lineup includes seven weeks of day and overnight baseball programming and one week of softball day camp.

The Ripken Way Camp is a day/overnight camp designed for the young baseball enthusiast between the ages of 9 and 12. Similar to the traditional Ripken Baseball Camp, it provides fundamental instruction in all phases of the game with an emphasis on fun. It is available in its standard format June 24-29, 2007 and July 29 to Aug. 3, 2007. The camp also is available as part of the Ripken Experience program, July 15-20, 2007. Ripken Experience Camps feature instruction from future Hall of Famer Cal Ripken, Jr., 12-year big league veteran Bill Ripken and a host of their former Baltimore Oriole teammates.

The Ripken Baseball Specialty Training Camp for ages 10-15 is a new program designed for the more experienced ballplayer who is looking for specialized and individualized instruction. Campers will be asked to choose a primary and secondary position that they will focus on for a portion of the camp while also receiving the overall fundamental training that Ripken Baseball is famous for providing. The camp is available in an overnight or day format June 17-22, 2007 and Aug. 5-10, 2007. Campers between the ages of 10-18 can attend the Ripken Experience version of the Specialty Training Camp, again featuring the Ripken brothers and other former major leaguers, July 22-27, 2007.

The Ripken Baseball High Performance Camp for ages 11-18 is another new program for 2007. It is a competitive camp for the more advanced youth player, featuring individual on-field offensive and defensive evaluations, video analysis, advanced instruction and competitive games. It is available in day and overnight formats July 8-13, 2007.

The Ripken Baseball Rookie Camp for ages 7-8 is back for it’s third year. Six four-day sessions that run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. are offered throughout the summer. It features fundamental instruction covering all aspects of the game with an emphasis on fun that includes contests and afternoon instructional games.
