Baltimore, Md- Ripken Baseball and Babe Ruth League, Inc. today announced a partnership that makes Comcast SportsNet the official broadcast partner for the 2005 Cal Ripken World Series. Through this partnership the following games will be broadcast live or on tape delay nationwide to an audience in more than eight different markets: • The International Championship Game on Saturday August 20th @ 1:05pm • The U.S. Championship Game on Saturday August 20th at 3:35pm • The CRWS Title Game on Sunday August 21st at 7:05pm The final three games of the 2005 Cal Ripken World Series will air in Comcast SportsNet markets in Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington, Chicago, and Northern and Central California. In addition, it will air through its parent company, Comcast, in the Atlanta market on Comcast Sports Southeast and in Detroit on Comcast Local. Together the program will reach approximately 20 million households (actual air times may vary by market, please refer to chart below for listings in each market). The 2005 World Series will take place August 12th through August 21st. The 15 teams attending the World Series are comprised of 11 and 12 year olds from all over the world. The event is comprised of the eight regional champions from across the United States, the Maryland State Champion and the Harford County (MD) Champion, as well as five international teams. The international teams are from Canada, Australia, Mexico, the Republic of Korea and the Dominican Republic. In the summer of 1999, Babe Ruth League, Inc. announced the renaming of its largest division (12 & under) from “Bambino” to “Cal Ripken Baseball” worldwide. Ripken Baseball and Babe Ruth League share a common vision to provide every youngster the opportunity to play baseball and to have fun which correlates with Ripken Baseball’s mission, “Growing Baseball Worldwide ‘The Ripken Way’”.
