On Saturday, April 2nd Cal and Bill Ripken's first radio show debuted on MLB Homeplate Channel 175. Over the past month the Ripken brothers have had a chance to catch up with some current professional players, managers and GMs to talk about the exciting start to the MLB season. Guests have included managers Frank Robinson and Buck Showalter, current stars Brian Roberts, Curt Schilling and General Managers Brian Cashman and Mark Shapiro. Show topics have covered everything from the importance of a closing pitcher to the importance of a team's payroll . Cal and Bill have explored the leagues, made their predictions for the 2005 season and are keeping a close watch on how the teams are shaping up. Two segments of each two hour weekly show are saved for Cal and Bill's true passion, youth baseball. During these segments youth coaches seeking coaching or parenting advice join the show to discuss issues facing youth today. Cal and Bill use the knowledge they received from their father, Cal Sr., their instructional philosophy and years of playing experience to help these guests as best they can.
